Black Bean, Rice and Pear Baby Food

As your baby grows, they will be able to handle more texture to their foods.  This combination of black beans, rice, pears, and avacados provides a great combination of texture foods that also are easy to gum (chew).

I send our daughter's baby food with her to daycare.  It is the least I can do to ensure that she gets a nutritious and flavorful breakfast and lunch.  I pack a little bag for her using the Lock N Lock Lunch Set.  These glass containers lock on all four sides to avoid spilling, easily go from refrigerator to microwave, and are safe from scratches which can create perfect homes for lingering germs.

Black Bean, Rice, and Pear Baby Food
Makes 15-1 ounce cubes

1 cup cooked brown rice
4 tablespoons cooked black beans*
2 ripe pears, peeled and chopped
1 avacado, mashed

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl.  Lightly mash with a potato masher until you reached desired texture.  Spoon into silicone cube trays.  Freeze. Once frozen remove from trays and place into labels freezer bags.

*Do not use canned black beans which are full of sodium.  Cook dry black beans.
