Saucy Asian Meatballs

Whenever I make meatballs in our house, I know they will be a favorite. Served with rice, noodles, or solo, everyone will ask for seconds or thirds.

Saucy Asian Meatballs is an easy combination of ingredients. The finishing sauce gives these meatballs a flavor boost with hoisin sauce and ground ginger. And since these are baked and not pan fried, you don't have to stand over a hot stove while they cook.

Saucy Asian Meatballs
Serves 6

Meatballs:
2 pounds ground pork
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 eggs
3 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 cup thinly-sliced green onions
Cilantro, for garnish
Cooked rice, optional

Asian Sauce:
2/3 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoons sesame oil
1 teaspoons ground ginger

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix together meatball ingredients until well-combined. Shape into 36 meatballs. Place on a greased baking sheet or in a 9×13 baking dish. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until meatballs are browned and cooked through.

While the meatballs are baking, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients in a large bowl until blended. Once meatballs have finished cooking, drop the meatballs into the sauce and lightly toss to coat.

Serve warm over rice and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
