Christmas Cookie Coundown - Frosted Butter Cookies

Simple delicious cookies can be the centerpiece for any holiday by using seasonal colors and sprinkles.  Even the kids will have fun making these cookies from start to finish.




Frosted Butter Cookies
Makes 27 cookies

2 cups butter, softened
1-3/4 cups sugar
1 egg yolk
4 cups all-purpose flour
Prepared buttercream frosting 
Food coloring and decorating sprinkles, optional

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk. Gradually add flour and mix well.

Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. 

1" balls or close...anything goes when kids are helping.
The cookies will turn out great no matter the shape!

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Tint frosting with food coloring if desired.


Frost cookies. Decorate as desired.
